Bioagricert has certified the first European company, a Spanish almond producer, according to the regenerative agriculture scheme!
We are excited to announce that Almendrehesa is the first almond company in Europe to receive the prestigious Regenerative Organic Certified® certification developed by the Regenerative Organic Alliance. Along with colleagues from the Habitat brand, specialized in olive oil, it is the first project ever to obtain this certification in Spain!

Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) is a comprehensive certification that meet the highest standards in soil health, animal welfare, and social fairness The certification is overseen by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA), which aims to create a healthy food system that respects land, animals, and people.
The ROC certification is built on three main pillars:
- Soil Health:
- Builds soil organic matter
- Promotes conservation tillage, cover crops, and crop rotations
- Prohibits GMOs, gene editing, soilless systems, and synthetic inputs
- Encourages biodiversity and rotational grazing
- Animal Welfare:
- Ensures the Five Freedoms: freedom from discomfort, fear and distress, hunger, pain, injury or disease, and freedom to express normal behavior
- Requires grass-fed/pasture-raised practices
- Limits transport and prohibits Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs)
- Provides suitable shelter
- Farmer and Worker Fairness:
- Promotes fair payments for farmers and good working conditions
- Supports democratic organizations and freedom of association
- Ensures living wages and long-term commitments
- Prohibits forced labor and emphasizes transparency and accountability
These pillars aim to create a sustainable and ethical farming system that benefits the environment, animals, and people involved in agriculture.
